Spectacular Emirati Icons take Centre Stage at the 28th Jewellery & Watch Show

September (Abu Dhabi, UAE): To commemorate the 50th year of the UAE, talented emerging jewellery designer, Tariq Riaz, will present a stunning award-winning collection of designs from his exclusive UAE50 ring collection, celebrating the foundations of the emirates. The collection will be revealed for the first time in the Middle East at the upcoming 28th edition of the Jewellery and Watch Show (JWS) in Abu Dhabi, which is set to take place from October 26 - 30, at Hall 9, stand D15, Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).

The UAE50 collection has recently returned from the United States, where it was showcased at the Couture and JCK shows, two exclusive industry events.  In the past year, Tariq Riaz has won a series of industry awards, including the 2021 Cindy Edelstein Memorial Emerging Designer Award for the UAE50 collection and the JCK Design Award in the bright & bold category for his Chameleon ring.

The Emirati-inspired ring collection was designed and manufactured in the UAE by Tariq himself and features the highest quality raw materials, including platinum, gold, rare all-natural pearls, diamonds, and a variety of coloured stones. Each gem sits perfectly within a pavé setting to maximise its brilliance. Expertly crafted, each element has been perfected using cutting-edge technology to present an artistic vision inspired by the humble roots of the UAE and its promising future.

One of the most prominent pieces in the collection is the ‘Al Jahili’ ring. The award-winning ring is inspired by the UAE’s most recognizable building, Al Jahili Fort in Al Ain, which was built upon request from His Excellency Sheikh Zayed Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Zayed the First in the 1890s to protect the oasis and its palm groves. The fort’s iconic four-concentric tiers are represented in the platinum-encrusted ring, with over 400 diamonds and stunning-coloured stones embellished throughout the levels. As a final touch, rose gold detailing captures the unique red sand dunes of the emirate.

Commenting on the collection, Tariq Riaz said, “This collection is a love letter to our adopted home. I wanted to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the UAE with work that is both spectacular and monumental, taking a new look at some fundamental aspects of our lives in the UAE.”

Other notable pieces include the ‘Khalas’ ring, which is dedicated to the woven patterns of date leaves and the texture of the palm trunk, and the ‘Qasr Al Hosn 1855’ ring, which pays homage to Abu Dhabi’s monumental landmark, the Watch Tower.

Held under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence of the United Arabic Emirates, the prestigious Watch and Jewellery Show (JWS) will feature over 140 unique brands from across the globe, showcasing their latest collections and unique designs. JWS is a prominent platform for showcasing stunning jewellery and watches that are not normally found in mainstream retail outlets, adding to the unique significance of the show.

With free registration, visitors attending this years’ event will discover a remarkable range of exclusive collections, from everyday pieces to rare and exquisite, luxury items. The upcoming JWS event will offer jewellery and watch enthusiasts an impressive selection of designs to choose from.

Organised by Reed Exhibitions, this year’s show timings are from 3:00pm-10:00pm daily.
