Top Jewellery Trends 2025: Sustainability, Personalisation, and Bold Designs

The future of jewellery is personal, environmental, and daring. The Jewellery & Watch Show Abu Dhabi's industry experts anticipate a new era of jewellery as 2025 approaches. The designs will reshape traditional craftsmanship and embody ethical values and personal stories by fusing modern innovation with history.

The jewellery of this era is not just an accessory but a powerful medium of self-expression and cultural identity. From eco-friendly materials to individualised personalisation, the jewellery scene of 2025 reflects the changing preferences of contemporary consumers.

Not only that, but designers are responding with unique and imaginative ideas as more consumers seek things that reflect their personalities and ideals. As a result, jewellery in 2025 may be as diverse as the people who wear it, and it will be both worn and experienced.

Jewellery’s shift to sustainability

Designers are reinventing luxury using eco-friendly materials and ethical sourcing to produce elegant yet mindful masterpieces.

Colette Payen Marquez, the founder of Colette Jewellery and a GIA-accredited gemologist, claims that as consumers and brands place a greater emphasis on ethical behaviour and openness, sustainability will become a key component of jewellery design in 2025.

According to Colette, a pioneer in sustainable jewellery, blockchain technology is currently being incorporated into the supply chain, enabling customers to follow the path of metals and gemstones from mine to market. Beyond just being more aesthetically pleasing, this change reflects a global trend towards ethical sourcing and environmentally friendly production.

For ecologically conscious consumers who prioritise firms that use recycled metals, lab-grown diamonds, and conflict-free gemstones, this transparency offers reassurance. Along with ethical sourcing, brands are reconsidering packaging by using eco-friendly materials and creating long-lasting parts to cut down on waste.

Tech-driven sustainability in jewellery

On the other hand, Saudi jewellery designer Nosheen Bakhsh, Founder and Jewelry Designer of Sheen Jewelry and Secretary General of Dubai Business Group for Gold and Jewelry Designers (DBGGJD), adds that technology innovations such as virtual try-on tools help to reduce unsold stock and the requirement for unnecessary inventory. This also backs up the idea that jewellery pieces will provide different experiences to its consumers.

The focus on sustainability extends beyond materials to include empowering customers to make responsible, knowledgeable decisions. The jewellery industry makes a lasting impression by fusing ethical principles with beauty, which appeals to contemporary, socially conscious consumers.

A fusion of culture and style

Jewellery design in 2025 celebrates a tasteful fusion of modernism and tradition, blending cultural history into innovative looks. By producing pieces that honour the past while appealing to the aesthetics of the present, this style values individuality and artistic ability.

Personalisation of jewellery pieces

In 2025, customisation will be one of the most alluring trends due to the growing desire for custom jewellery. Customers look for items that express their own histories, ideals, and fashion preferences.

According to Tamara Al Shamari, Founder and Creative Director, Taiia Jewelry and Viibe Jewelry and Director of Public Relations of DBGGJD, personalisation has progressed beyond basic birthstones or initials. Geometric designs will also play an important role, with creative shapes and partial pave settings producing a modern appeal. Pieces with engravings that have personal meaning, custom-cut gemstones, and symbols attract customers.

Personalisation is now simpler to do thanks to digital design tools. Colette Payen Marquez highlights that customers can achieve their ideas from the comfort of their homes using online platforms. This trend reflects a larger tendency in the jewellery industry towards authenticity and self-expression.

Celebrating culture and heritage through jewellery

Jewellery design in 2025 is significantly influenced by cultural history, with traditional features interwoven alongside modern inspirations. There is a revived emphasis in the Gulf on natural pearls and designs influenced by native architecture, which highlight the region's rich cultural heritage.

Al Fardan Jewellery UAE's VP and CEO, Ghada Hussain Al Fardan, explains that designers are reinterpreting Gulf-inspired designs for a worldwide audience. Designers create jewellery that crosses generations and resonates on a global scale by combining traditional workmanship with modern embellishments.

Aside from that, designers merge culture and heritage through jewellery because of the following:

  • Makes a stronger, more meaningful connection to jewellery pieces.

  • Blends cultural roots and current aesthetics to appeal to younger generations.

  • Allows people to honour their heritage in a new, meaningful way.

  • Bridges the gap between the past and the present with symbolically rich and beautiful designs.

Making a statement with vibrant colours and bold designs

2025 is also expected to be a year of striking colours and eye-catching patterns. As per statement-jewellery designer Salam Swaid, the rebirth in maximalism presents a chance for wearers to make a visual statement that is both forceful and personal. Swaid also suggests that fans of designers should keep an eye on forward-thinking designers who constantly push the frontiers of creativity, such as Amama Jewels and Julia Maria Kunnap.

Not only that, but bold trends like statement pearls, chunky chains, and geometric forms are back, providing varied options that express confidence and personality.

Vibrant gemstones are also becoming more and more popular as buyers seek out artistic, striking pieces. The following jewels will add energy and sophistication to jewellery collections:

  • Sapphire

  • Tanzanite

  • Aquamarine

  • Morganite

Those interested in celestial influences can keep an eye out for collections incorporating zodiac-inspired motifs and blue-hued gemstones such as tanzanite and sapphire. Le Vian's next heavenly collection will provide a distinct twist, reflecting the majesty of the night sky via beautiful jewellery.

Gemmologist Colette Payen Marquez observes a growing trend in "tech-organic" jewellery, which combines natural components with the newest innovations. This novel concept easily incorporates wearable technology components, such as health-monitoring sensors or NFC-enabled pieces, into exquisite jewellery designs.

Social media’s role in shaping jewellery trends in 2025

Through influencers and user-generated content, social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok, not only start trends but also help brands develop, according to Vinita Michael, Founder and Creative Director, Vinita Michael Jewelcraft and Director of Marketing and Membership of DBGGJD. Also, social media, as noted by Colette Payen Marquez, encourages connection and curiosity, generating a feeling of urgency and enthusiasm around new collections. And by 2025, its influence will have grown even more, giving brands a direct line to people around the world.

Social Media as the Trend Accelerator

Social media remains an unparalleled force in shaping and accelerating jewellery trends, with platforms like Instagram and TikTok transforming how people discover, engage with, and purchase jewellery. For 2025, social media’s influence is only set to grow, offering a powerful direct-to-consumer path allowing brands to connect with global audiences. Vinita Michael, a member of the Dubai Business Group for Gold and Jewelry Designers, explains that these platforms are not only reshaping the way jewellery trends emerge but also how they evolve, with influencers and user-generated content driving demand in real-time.

Social media has also made personalisation more accessible, as consumers now see and engage with unique, custom pieces that align with their tastes. Through shoppable posts and live-streamed showcases, platforms like Instagram allow brands to reach consumers instantly, creating a sense of immediacy and excitement around new collections. As Colette Payen Marquez observes, social media fosters curiosity and connection, enabling brands to showcase their craftsmanship and engage with audiences meaningfully. By leveraging these platforms, the jewellery industry is tapping into a global community that values individuality and personal expression.

Jewellery in 2025:

The upcoming year promises an array of standout pieces and innovative collections, each capturing the essence of 2025’s top trends. Statement pearls are expected to return boldly, offering a modern twist on a classic. These pieces will feature striking designs highlighting individuality and versatile styling options, as noted by Colette Payen Marquez. Chunky chains and oversized earrings are also set to dominate, allowing wearers to embrace dramatic flair and personal expression.

For those drawn to celestial influences, collections featuring zodiac-inspired designs and blue-hued gemstones like tanzanite and sapphire will be ones to watch. Le Vian’s anticipated celestial collection will bring a unique touch, celebrating the mystique of the night sky in elegant jewellery. Geometric designs will also play a prominent role, with pieces that incorporate innovative shapes and partial pave settings, creating a contemporary aesthetic that appeals to modern tastes.

Natural pearls remain highly sought after in the Gulf, as explained by Ghada Hussain Al Fardan. Local designers merge tradition with innovation, creating capsule collections that celebrate cultural heritage while adapting to modern design sensibilities. Al Fardan Jewellery, which pioneered the integration of natural pearls into watch designs, will continue this trend, making these pieces a symbol of elegance and cultural pride.

Another key trend is modular and transformative jewellery. As highlighted by Nosheen Bakhsh, these pieces offer multiple ways to wear a single item, catering to the modern consumer’s desire for versatility and functionality. With the rise in demand for lab-grown diamonds and gemstones, brands are expected to introduce exclusive collections that reflect this eco-conscious choice, blending luxury with ethical values. Additionally, tech-integrated jewellery, such as health-monitoring accessories and NFC-enabled pieces for secure data sharing, is poised to add a new dimension to wearable luxury.

For designer fans, Salam Swaid suggests keeping an eye on visionary designers like Julia Maria Kunnap and Amama Jewels, who consistently push creative boundaries. Their work epitomises a blend of artistry and innovation, setting the tone for what’s to come in the jewellery landscape.

The Jewellery & Watch Show Abu Dhabi will return to ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi from November 12 to 16, 2025, with an even deeper exploration of these trends. It will offer various workshops and collections celebrating sustainable practices, customisation, and cultural fusion.
